The WFSA was founded January 23rd 2001 by Bob Staton, Stefan "Lillis" Åkesson and Dan Gesmer as an organization to serve and promote the freestyle skateboarding community.

Overview
The nature and scope of the WFSA is to address the needs of freestyle skateboarders as both artists and individuals
within the global community.
Current Goals
- The WFSA guides event organizers whenever needed.
- The WFSA guarantees that there will be a World Championship every year.
- The WFSA maintains guidelines for contests that are randomly updated with input from the general community as need arises.
- The WFSA promotes the growth of freestyle and the development of organizations that will represent freestylers in each country.
